Transfer window: Deals done up, but value of transactions down
February 6 – There were a record 5,973 international transfers recorded in the January trading window for men’s football, according to data from FIFA’s Transfer Snapshot report.
But while the 3% increase in deals done took the player market to a new level, the $1.9 billion total spending was down about 18% from last year’s record $2.37 billion spend in the winter transfer window.
Unsurprisingly, English clubs were the top spenders with $363 million.
