Undefeated run in Japan boosts Philippines Men’s Softball Team’s SEA Games bid

The Philippines Men’s National Softball Team delivered an impressive performance in Japan, sweeping the International Exchange Tournament in Higashikagawa as part of their preparation for the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games.

The event featured teams from Singapore (U18/U21 National Team); Hong Kong, China and host squads Himeji and Kagawa. The Philippines secured commanding victories against Singapore U18/U21 (16–0); Hong Kong, China (9–0) and Himeji (2–0), before closing their campaign with a 2–2 draw against Kagawa, completing the tournament undefeated.

Currently ranked No. 19 in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Ranking, the Philippines are conducting a two-week training camp in Japan as they gear up for the 33rd SEA Games, set for 9–20 December in Bangkok, Thailand. The squad aims to reclaim the gold medal, having last won it in the 2015 edition in Singapore.

At the 2019 SEA Games, the Philippines settled for silver, falling to Singapore in the final - the last time men’s softball was contested at the regional event.

Meanwhile, No. 11 Singapore is also holding a training tour in Japan as part of its own buildup for the Southeast Asian Games 2025.
