MINCO, Okla. (KFOR) - The Minco softball team was involved in a school bus crash Monday night, officials say.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, all east and westbound lanes of SH-152/ SH-37 were closed Monday night at County Road 2760, west of Minco near Cogar in Grady County, due to the crash.

Minco Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Sims says that the Minco Softball team was involved in the accident and said that school will be closed on Tuesday.

“This evening, our Minco Softball team was in a serious accident west of Minco. Multiple individuals on the bus were severely injured. We will be closing school tomorrow,” said Sims on social media. “We will also provide updates as we are permitted. Please keep these student-athletes, coaches, and their families in your prayers.”

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says multiple students were hurt. At least six students were ejected from the bus, with multiple being transported to Oklahoma City area hospitals.

According to OHP, the school bus had struck a deer before leaving the roadway and rolling over one time.

There were 17 passengers on the bus, with six of them injured.

The driver of the bus, identified by OHP as Cody Schmidt, who is also the head softball coach for Minco Public Schools, was reportedly injured in the crash.
