Team USA claims gold at The World Games 2025 after weather forces cancellation
CHENGDU, China — Due to inclement weather, the gold medal matchup at The World Games (TWG) 2025 could not be played, resulting in Team USA and Japan being named Co-Champions. Both teams walk away with gold, marking the first gold medal for the U.S. Men’s National Team program in over 35 years — their last coming at the 1988 ISF World Championship.

With an undefeated 4-0 record, the Eagles dominated at TWG 2025, outscoring opponents 42-8 and posting a .417 team batting average. The Red, White, and Blue collected wins over Singapore, Canada, Australia, and Venezuela en route to the top of the podium, tallying 40 hits and 27 RBIs along the way. Three of those victories came by way of the run-rule. Leading the U.S. offense was Erick Ochoa with a .600 batting average, followed by Jonathan Lynch (.556), Yusef Davis (.556), and Blaine Milheim (.462). The Eagles blasted five home runs during the tournament, with Davis, Tyler Johnson, Lynch, Milheim, and Ochoa each recording one. In the circle, Marco Diaz, Cody Gibbons, and Brad Kilpatrick combined for 25 strikeouts while allowing just seven earned runs across 20 innings pitched – with Diaz leading the charge with 15 Ks, followed by seven from Gibbons and three from Kilpatrick.
