Czechia, Europe's pride at WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup

World No. 8 Czechia finished the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 Super Round tied in fourth place with No. 4 Chinese Taipei and No. 9 Mexico. They had a shot at the medal round but will finish sixth due to the Team Quality Balance (TQB) calculations. All the same, a best ever finish for Czechia, improving on their seventh place result from the inaugural edition two year's ago.

Head coach Jana Chylova is satisfied with what her team did. "Yes, we are, we wanted to be in the Super Round," she said. "For Czechia, it was a dream to be among the best six in the world. We made it; we played great matches against the world's great teams. We are happy we could compete."

Czechia defeated Canada and Chinese Taipei in the Opening Round. In the Super Round, they played a one-run game against Puerto Rico and took a 1-1 tie against Mexico into the fifth. They had a scoring chance against Japan before allowing their first hit.

"Details in world-class softball are crucial," commented Chylova. "I think we have to work on it. We need to improve our execution. We need to practice. Above all, we need to improve our hitting to compete at this level."

World No.- 8 Czechia is the first European team to qualify for the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup Super Round. "We didn't play any European team," said Chylova. "We played eight games against international teams. We are aware that European teams need to make a big step to compete at this level. We want to be back next time and get closer."

Anna Ringlerova went 9-for-23 in the tournament, with a .391 batting average. She had one triple and four RBIs. Ringlerova played all eight games, splitting time between shortstop and first base and didn't make an error.

"It was a great experience for us," Ringlerova said after the game against Japan, "unforgettable."

"We can do better than this. We made some mistakes against Mexico and today," Ringlerova added. "The games could have gone the other way, but we lost because of the details."

Ringlerova has played softball for most of her very young life but with an exciting softball future ahead of her, she has one goal in mind.

"I started playing baseball with boys when I was five or six in America, then continued in Czechia," Ringlerova said. "My mother played, so she introduced me to softball. I want to represent Czechia in the Olympics."
