Legnano replaces Bollate as WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 host
The Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) informed the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) of a change of venue for the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 with Legnano replacing Bollate and joining Caronno Pertusella in hosting the event.
"Technical and organisational issues emerged in a meeting with the Bollate Softball 1969 club and the Bollate Municipality," stated FIBS in a statement. "Both the Legnano Softball Club and the municipality of Legnano have reacted enthusiastically to the opportunity to host such a high-calibre event."
Legnano is located in the Alto Milanese territory, the northwestern part of the Milan Metropolitan Area, at 30km (18.6 miles) from downtown Milan. It has a population of 60,546.
The Legnano Baseball and Softball Club started baseball activity in 1950 and added softball in 1964. Legnano won the Italian Softball League pennant, the European Cup Winners Cup in 2007, and the European Premiere Cup in 2008.
They will host the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 at the Peppino Colombo Sports Center, a baseball/softball facility on Cesare Battisti St. The Colombo Stadium hosted the European Premiere Cup in 2023.
The venue is 17km (10.6 miles) from the Giuseppe Nespoli Stadium in Caronno Pertusella.
The WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 is scheduled from June 27 to July 5.
Japan hosted the inaugural WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup in 2023. The United States beat Puerto Rico in the final to claim the title.
World No. 7 Italy and No. 8 Czechia became the first teams to qualify for the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025. Czechia won the European Championship 2024, and Italy was the runner-up. No. 13 Spain, the third-place finisher, received a Wild Card and will be the third European team to compete in Caronno Pertusella and Legnano.
Oceania has two spots, which WBSC Oceania awarded to No. 10 Australia and No. 64 American Samoa.
The WBSC Americas Qualifier will take place in Acapulco, Mexico from March 20 to 29 to qualify four teams.
Two more teams will qualify through the WBSC Asia qualifier, taking place from March 26 to 30 in Puli (TPE).
One team from Africa will be the 12th participant in the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025.
