PHI Triumphs Over MEX in a 3-1 Victory in Hermosillo

In a sun-drenched showdown in Hermosillo, PHILLIPINES managed to secure a 3-1 victory over host MEXICO. The game, which lasted just under two hours, was a display of strategic pitching and timely hitting, captivating the 600 fans in attendance.

The game started with both teams struggling to get on the scoreboard. PHI’s pitcher, Jehanz Maristela, was in fine form, keeping MEX hitters at bay with a mix of fastballs and breaking pitches. Maristela’s performance was crucial, as he pitched a complete game, allowing only 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 5.

PHI’s offense was led by Mark Joseph Quezon, who had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Melvin De Castro also made significant contributions, hitting a double and scoring a run. Kenneth Torres and Denmark Bathan added to the offensive effort, with Bathan collecting two hits.

MEX’s lone run came from Edgar Daniel Lopez Delgado, who drove in a run with a single. Junior Alexis Flores Del Valle provided some spark with a double, but it wasn’t enough to overcome PHI’s pitching. Despite the loss, MEX’s pitcher, Jose Gustavo Valdez Chaparro, had an impressive outing, striking out 11 batters over 7 innings and allowing only 2 earned runs.

Key Moments:

  • In the top of the 5th inning, PHI broke the deadlock with a run scored by Melvin De Castro, who doubled and was driven in by Mark Joseph Quezon.
  • PHI added two more runs in the 6th inning, capitalizing on a couple of defensive miscues by MEX.
