Converse Debuts Its Run Star Flat Trainer Sneaker Inspired by Running, Fencing and More

0 43

Converse is leaning into the flat sneaker trend with the introduction of its new Run Star Trainer silhouette.

The new model takes inspiration from running, fencing, volleyball, wrestling while invoking nearly 20 sneakers from Converse’s archives, predominantly from the ’80s. The sole unit looks to 194 through the Steeple Chase Mesh, Kangaroo and Distance Track for running, as well as the Fencing Elite. Outside of sport, the Run Star Trainer also looks to pottery as source material.

A mesh base features suede overlays forming the T-bar, eyelets and heel counter. Leather is then used for Converse’s Chevron logo at midfoot as well as the mustache in contrasting colorways for each of the six colorways revealed by the brand. All six colorways also feature a gum outsole that borrows from the Chuck Taylor All Star and uses the same star logo featured on the hit Run Star Hike.

For its debut the Run Star Trainer will be available with options for white and black, black and red, red and pink, blue and green and yellow and white.

Converse first introduced its Run Stark Hike in 2019, and the sneaker-boot hybrid has since been followed up with variants including platforms, utility sandals, low-tops and more.

Minimalist, thin sneakers have becoming trending as a spin-off of sorts to the ballet flat trend and have been embodied by models such as the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, the recently revived Puma Mostro and Miu Miu’s New Balance 530 collaboration.

The Converse Run Star trainer will release June 18 worldwide through Converse’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $90.
