Seven teams ready for action at WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup Asia qualifier
World No. 2 Japan, No. 3 Chinese Taipei, No. 26 Philippines, No. 31 Korea, No. 35 Hong Kong China, No. 27 Singapore and No. 50 India are ready to start on Tuesday the first U-15 Women’s Softball Asia Cup, a continental qualifier for this year’s World Cup. The Asian championship will be played at the Fu-Hsing Softball Stadium in Puli Township, Nantou, Taiwan, from 13 to 17 June.
The tournament will award two spots to the inaugural WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup, set to take place in Tokyo, Japan, from 21 to 29 October this year.
The seven participating teams will play in a single round robin from 13 to 16 June. The top two teams in the standings will then advance to the final on 17 June, and also secure a spot in the World Cup. Third and fourth place will play for the bronze medal.
The first-ever WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup will be played in three Tokyo stadiums: Komazawa Olympic Park Sports Complex Baseball Stadium in Setagaya Ward, Ota Stadium in Ota Ward and Setagaya City Okura Sports Center Baseball Ground. Last week, the WBSC awarded Peru a wild-card entry into the tournament.
