0 5

Winfield, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons continued their late season charge up the KCAC ladder by sweeping the Southwestern College Lady Builders today (Apr. 26) by scores of 14-2 and 3-1 in Winfield, Kan.

The Falcons are now winners of nine of their last 10 games to move their overall record to 25-18 and 16-8 in the KCAC.

The opening tilt saw the Falcons strike early and often, as they grabbed an early edge on a sacrifice fly by Carolyn Dallimore (JR/Patterson, Calif. ) in the first inning.

RBI singles from Meghan Low (SR/Collinsville, Okla.), Priscilla Mora (FR/Beaumont, Calif. ) and Laila Spracklen (JR/San Diego, Calif. ) followed in the second inning that began to open the flood gates.

The second inning also featured a sacrifice fly by Jennifer Garcia (SO/Sylamar, Calif. ) before Mora moved into a tie for the KCAC-lead by launching her 10th homer of the season. Makenna Mitchell (JR/Orange County, Calif. ) then doubled home a pair of runs later in the inning to break things wide open.

Spracklen pitched five effective innings and struck out seven to add to her KCAC-leading 194 strikeout total on the season in picking up her 16th victory of the season.

The Falcons got three hits and two RBIs each from Low and Spracklen, with Mora going 2-of-3 and driving in three runs.

Aleigha Gale (SO/Winfield, Kan. ) and Garcia also had a pair of hits in the Falcons' first game victory.

With the Falcons up 2-0 in the nightcap, Mora continued her hot hitting with an RBI triple in the fifth inning for all the runs starter Isabelle Schwien (SO/Denver, Colo. ) would require.

Schwien equaled her career-high with seven strikeouts and allowed no earned runs in seven innings.

Gale and Low each paced the Falcons with two hits apiece in the second game win.

The Falcons will carry plenty of momentum into next weeks (May 4-6) KCAC Tournament in Great Bend, Kan. Brackets will be released soon, but the Falcons are currently tied for the fourth spot in the league.
