France defeats Botswana and gets the first win of the Qualifier

France collected its first victory of the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier after a comfortable five-innings win over Botswana, 11-2. Kimane Rogron led the French offense with 3 hits. Pitcher Sarah Benchali got the win, Seth Onneetse the loss. Tomorrow France will face Italy at 10.00, while Botswana will take on Czech Republic at 16.00.

France started well the game, scoring 8 points in the first attack. The French team hit 5 hits, including a double by Kimane Rogron, while Botswana defense committed 6 errors. In the bottom of the first, Botswana scored the 8-1. Kagiso Lowang plated Bafedile Dube home with a sacrifice fly.

France added 3 more runs in the second, thanks to a pair of RBI singles by Pauline Prade and Kimane Rogron.

One inning later, Botswana scored the 11-2. With one out, Bafedile Dube and Goitseone Monyadzwe reached on errors. Then, the two players stole the bases, the home plate and the second.

Thanks to this win, France moves to 1-1 record in the Group B and will play against Italy at 10.00 tomorrow. On the other side, Botswana is now with a 0-2 record and will take on Czech Republic at 16.00 on Thursday afternoon.
