On Wednesday, Mac Williamson made his Mariners debut hours after taking batting practice with the Tacoma Rainiers. In a pinch-hit appearance and his first Mariners at-bat, he hit a three run dinger to turn an unlikely blowout against the Astros into a true laugher. Here’s the rest of the story:
Mac Williamson had his flight out of NC delayed yesterday. He got to SeaTac about 3 am. He reported to Tacoma today and was working out pregame when they told him he needed to be in Seattle. He hasn’t played in a game in two weeks

Mac Williamson last played in a game on May 24. He made it to Seattle after BP and then hit a homer in his first AB.

Was he surprised?
"Considering I struck out in eight of my last nine at-bats with San Francisco, yeah," he said. "And I got down 1-2."
Did I mention this was all after recovering from a concussion that nearly ended his playing career?
What a moment for Mac. It made me think of other notable, yet perhaps obscure Mariners home runs that were rich in background detail and story. So, here’s your prompt!
What’s your favorite Mariners home run of all time?
I can think of several off the top of my head that are personal favorites: Dae-Ho Lee’s pinch-hit walk-off against the Rangers. Ken Griffey Jr.’s walk-off against the Yankees that helped spark the 1995 playoff run. Russell Branyan’s old Yankee stadium upper decker. Nelson Cruz in game 161 in 2016. SoftbaLL 2019 Update!
Thanks to everyone who voted in last week’s poll! The two SoftbaLL datees will be July 13 and August 3. I can’t reserve the fields until a month before each date, so the exact location will be TBD.
