Wet fields, bleak forecast leave spring sports in limbo
Section II varsity baseball and softball coaches have increasingly found themselves studying weather patterns and watching local television meteorologists attempting to get a handle on when they can get they outside to practice and play games.
Wednesday night, Hoosick Falls baseball coach Mike Lilac Jr. watched TV to hear a dreary long-range forecast.
"Three days in the next five there is a possibility of snowfall," Lilac said.
Saratoga baseball coach Andy Cuthbertson said he viewed a 15-day forecast that appears to be even more ominous for area squads attempting to compete during the second and third weeks in April.
"We were fortunate that we went to Florida, so were outside five days down there," Cuthbertson said.
