[Softball] Yattoni wins second CCAC Pitcher of the Week award
CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Ashley Yattoni (Bettendorf, Iowa) registered a pair of wins to claim her second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week award, while Roosevelt University's Aisley Njissang (Castro Valley, Calif.) averaged three runs batted in per game over a seven-day period to gain CCAC Softball Player of the Week accord, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Yattoni, a senior, went the first five innings in both an 8-2 win over Trinity Christian College on Friday and an eventual 5-0 shutout of Robert Morris University Illinois on Saturday to improve to 8-1 on the season. For the two games combined, she only yielded four hits over the ten innings.
In the Trinity Christian win, Yattoni only gave up one hit before holding Robert Morris scoreless on three hits and two strikeouts Saturday. She collected three hits herself in six plate appearances on the week, while driving in three runs.
Among others receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll, St. Ambrose opened its conference season at 4-0, while improving to 18-6 overall.
