[Softball] Cavs Continue Winning Ways at Columbia

On Tuesday, the Montreat Cavaliers' women's softball team continued to add to its March win totals when it swept the Columbia College Koalas in Columbia. The games were moved from their originally scheduled location at Roxy Hines Field due to inclement weather.

Both games proved pitching duels with the Cavs (10-14, 5-1) scoring the sole run in the first to earn the 1-0 victory. Allison Moody (SO/Belmont, NC) twirled a gem, allowing just three hits and shutting out the Koalas (7-9, 4-6)  for the complete game victory. Ashlyn Vickers (JR/Ellenboro, NC) had the game's only RBI as she drove in Montreat's Aly Woody (SO/Marion, NC) in the top of the first. Mikki Shelton (SO/Old Fort, NC) had a double, and Vickers, Victoria Hill (JR/Beaufort, SC), and Moody added base hits to account for the Cavs' four hits.

In the second game, the Cavs scored twice to earn the 2-1 victory behind the pitching of last week's AAC Picher of the Week, Cailin Warner (SO/Portland, OR). Warner struck out one, walked two, and allowed only one run to earn the win. Ronnie Ellis (SO/Augusta, GA) had Montreat's only RBI, and one of the team's four hits. Morgan Meredith (SR/Coalfield, TN), Victoria Hill, and Alicia Gil (JR/Phoenix, AZ) accounted for the other three.
