[Softball] Hansen named NFCA Catcher of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kirkwood softball's sophomore catcher Maddie Hansen was recently named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) 2017 Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year, as announced by the organization last week. Hansen also won the award in 2016, giving her the distinction of winning the award in back-to-back seasons.

With the award, the Kirkwood Eagles softball team now has two Player of the Year honorees who have won their respective awards in back-to-back seasons. Hansen joins fellow teammate Taylor Nearad, who was selected as the NFCA National Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
