Stephen Colbert Calls John McEnroe Out on His Recent Serena Williams Comments (Video)
Stephen Colbert isn’t serving softballs to tennis legend John McEnroe.
On Tuesday, the “Late Show” host called out his guest over comments McEnroe made during a recent NPR interview, when the ex-player and current analyst said Serena Williams would be ranked “like No. 700 in the world” if she played against men.
The CBS studio audience booed the former champ, who then quipped: “It didn’t go over big with my daughters either.”

McEnroe did follow-up — in both interviews — by clarifying that Williams is “the greatest female tennis player that ever lived,” and “absolutely tremendous.”
He just doesn’t think the 5’9” great would have all these major championships if she was across the court from a fella. Watch the video above.
