[Aquinas] Saints Finish 22nd In Learfield Directors' Cup Standings
The final installment of the NAIA Learfield Directors' Cup standings has been released and Aquinas College finished in 22nd place with 478.25 points. The updated set of standings included the sports of baseball and softball. Oklahoma City claimed first place with a total of 982.00 points, well ahead of second place Lindsey Wilson (805.00).
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports - six women's and six men's. The Saints received 90 points in dance, 80 points in women's cross country, 73.5 points in women's indoor track and field, 65.5 points in men's indoor track & field, 56 points for women's outdoor track, 52 points in men's cross country, 36.5 points for men's outdoor track & field, and 25 points in men's basketball. Aquinas was the second highest ranking WHAC institution in the field behind Indiana Tech (#6). This year's efforts mark the fifth highest finish since the inception of the program during the 1995-96 school year for the Saints. Aquinas' highest finish ever was in 2000-01, when the Saints ascended all the way up to the 13th overall spot in the standings.
