Poll: How Many More Days Will You Ski This Season?
At many Western ski resorts, the final chapter of the 2025-26 season arrived earlier than expected.
There was the recent heat wave, of course, but that meteorological development was only one factor among many that made this winter memorable, and not in a good way.
Overall, the snowpack is down in many places, and storms came in warmer than expected, delivering rain only days before or after the biggest snowfalls. It’s all concerning—and, quite frankly, depressing—particularly against the backdrop of a changing climate.
So, we wouldn’t fault you for being done (for now) with this whole skiing business, given the weather’s toxic and mercurial behavior. Maybe, you might think, next winter won’t play with my heart so much, so I should just call it while I’m ahead.
At the same time, it would be unwise to pen a final ski season obituary. March brought historically warm temperatures, but there’s still time for a return to more wintry conditions, as evidenced by a storm spinning up off the coast of Washington and Oregon. Some mountains, like Snowbird and Revelstoke, are still sitting on solid snowpacks. And the backcountry, provided you’re willing to sweat, remains an option.
We're inclined to see the silver lining. Yes, spring skiing in March feels wrong, but who are we to turn down an opportunity to bust out the snow blades, get an ugly goggle burn, and ski some slush?
That brings us to this week’s question: Are you sticking it out, or have you already started hitting the mountain bike trail? Vote below and, if you have additional thoughts, share them with us in the comments section.

About the POWDER Weekly Poll
We launch our weekly polls at 3 p.m. Eastern Time every Monday. They remain open until 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time the following Friday, with the results dropping on Sunday at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. You can participate and see the results right here on our website or by visiting our Instagram page.
While you’re at it, drop us a line or leave an Instagram comment if there’s a poll you’d like to see next. Skiers have plenty of opinions and preferences, and we want to know which ones might land on top of the heap.
