Law firm identifies CEO as victim in fatal ski accident
NORTH CREEK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Capital Region law firm has identified its founder and CEO as the man who was found dead after a skiing accident at Gore Mountain Saturday.
According to State Police, at about 11:00 a.m., Troopers responded to the Gore Mountain Ski Resort and found a severely injured skier in the area of the Sagamore Trail. Bystanders and Ski patrol staff attempted all life-saving measures available, but despite their efforts, the skier was declared deceased at the scene. The Colwell Law Group LLC identified the victim as Kevin Colwell, the firm's founder and chief executive officer.
The law group's statement read that this is an immense tragedy for them, and they're focused on supporting their employees.
"Kevin built not just a business, but a family, and the loss of his presence is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of working with him," said Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Stevens.
The statement went on to say their thoughts are with Colwell's family. The Colwell Law Group is a family law firm with offices in Albany, Saratoga, Syracuse and Rochester. The group credits Kevin Colwell with building its "sterling reputation."
The NYSP's investigation into the incident is ongoing.
