Wild Video Shows Reality of East Coast Skiing in June

Summer is upon us, which means it's time to put the skis in storage and whip out the swim trunks. The end of the winter sports season might come as a disappointment to some avid skiers and snowboarders, but athletes in Vermont were able to have fun with this year's seasonal transition.

Killington Resort in the central part of the state is home to picturesque mountains with ski runs seemingly ripped straight out of a postcard. The ski resort closed for the season on June 1, but locals couldn't say bye without going for one more trip down the mountain.

Social media page Ski the East, dedicated to highlighting the beauty of skiing on the East Coast, gave a look at this celebration. The video set to Elvis Presley's "Burning Love" shows skiers in attendance eager to ski on corn snow, the biggest textural difference between winter and spring skiing

"Skiing corn on June 1st. That's how we do it in the East," the post's caption read. "Couldn't have asked for a better send-off with 80 degrees [Fahrenheit] and sunshine."

In the clip, the skier flies down the mountain while weaving around and over moguls and sharing the slope with others. They don't have much room to work with, however, as the skiable surface is limited to a thin strip of corn snow down the mountainside.

If you're on the East Coast and want to experience Killington's slopes for yourself in their full glory, look out for their opening date this fall in late October or early November.
