At least 6 killed in Jerusalem shooting

At least six people were killed and 12 others were injured in a shooting Monday morning at a crowded bus stop in Jerusalem, according to Israeli police, emergency rescue services and local hospitals.

The attackers, who authorities said were Palestinian, were reportedly shot and killed by an Israeli soldier and civilian on the scene.

Police said the attackers opened fire on people waiting at a bus stop during morning rush hour at a busy intersection.

Paramedics arrived to what they said was a chaotic scene, with victims lying wounded and unconscious on the road and sidewalk, covered in broken glass. The windshield of a bus on the scene was riddled with bullet holes and people’s belongings were scattered in the area.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the scene two hours later and pledged to find the perpetrators of the attack.

"We are at war, an intense war against terrorism on several fronts," he said.

“We are now engaged in pursuit and are cordoning off the villages from which the murderers came. We will apprehend whoever aided and dispatched them, and we will take even stronger steps,” Netanyahu said, according to a translation from Hebrew provided by his office.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog lamented the “painful and difficult morning.”

“Innocent civilians, women, men, and children were brutally murdered and wounded in cold blood on a bus in Jerusalem by vile and evil terrorists," he said.

He also touted the “extraordinary acts of heroism which prevented even further loss of innocent lives.”

“This shocking attack reminds us once again that we are fighting absolute evil," Herzog said. "The world must understand what we are up against, and that terror will never defeat us.”

Hamas did not claim credit but praised the attack as a “natural response to the occupation’s crimes against our people.”

The attack comes after President Trump said on Sunday that "I think we’re going to have a deal on Gaza very soon."

Upon returning to Joint Base Andrews from a trip to New York, Trump said "we’re working on a solution that maybe could be very good.”

"Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "This is my last warning, there will not be another one!"
