Hempstead man charged with attempted murder for 2024 Troy shooting
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Troy Police arrested a Hempstead man on Wednesday after a longstanding shooting investigation. Jumar Tucker, 39, faces felony charges.
On May 29, 2024, while following up on reports of a shooting, police patrols found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound near Sixth Avenue and Middleburgh Street. Emergency responders tended to the victim at the scene before he was treated at a local hospital.
During the ensuing investigation, Tucker was identified as a suspect through evidence analysis, resulting in an indictment being issued by a Rensselaer County grand jury. Troy Police took Tucker into custody at the Nassau County Jail on June 11, where he was being held on unrelated charges.
Tucker was charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned at the Rensselaer County Court before being returned to the Nassau County Jail.
