U.S. Soccer star Alex Morgan announces she's pregnant and is reportedly still shooting for the Tokyo Olympics

Alex Morgan is set to make 2020 another milestone year, and it's not just because of the upcoming Summer Olympics.

Morgan is expecting her first child with her husband MLS player Servando Carrasco, the U.S. women's soccer team co-captain announced Wednesday. Their daughter is due just three months before the Tokyo Olympics, but a source close to Morgan says she's still planning to play, per NBC Sports.

While she didn't reveal a ton of details when sharing her big news, Morgan did tweet pictures of an adorable pair of baby Nike sneakers with Carrasco and reveal the baby is expected in April 2020.

Morgan has spent her soccer career sweeping up championships and Olympic medals: The 2015 and 2019 World Cups and 2012 Olympic gold, to name a few. But she's also continually fought for pay equality for woman athletes and leads a lawsuit against U.S. Soccer for gender discrimination. Most recently in their fight, U.S. Soccer showed Morgan and three other top teammates have made more money than anyone on the men's U.S. team. But Morgan is arguing that's only true because they play and win more, and that proportionately, they make a lot less than the men who didn't even make the World Cup in 2017.
