Quick Recap: Warriors beat Celtics 109-105 behind Steph Curry’s ridiculousness

Steph Curry scored 49 points in an epic battle with Kyrie Irving.

This was an exciting one from start to finish, with all the feel of a playoff game. Both teams led by double digits at one point or another, but ultimately the Golden State Warriors prevailed with a 109-105 victory over the Boston Celtics.

It was the Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry show. Irving dominated early, and he and Jaylen Brown combined for 28 points on 9-9 shooting in the first quarter alone.

Curry quickly caught up, and the two star point guards went back and forth with complete and utter basketball brilliance all game long.

Things really clicked in the third quarter, when Curry scored 18 points and the Dubs outdid the Celtics 30-19 to take a seven-point lead into the fourth.

But Boston simply would not go away, and made sure that this one went down to the wire. The teams traded leads multiple times in the final minutes, providing terrific suspense, and excellent basketball.

When the dust settled, Curry was absurd with 49 points on 16-24 shooting (8-13 from deep), and Irving was unbelievable with 37 points on 13-18 shooting (5-6 from deep). And, most importantly, the Dubs won one of the best games of the NBA season.

It is, unfortunately, the last time these teams will play this season. In the regular season, that is. Who knows what will happen in June . . .

But until then, mark your calendar for February 18, when Curry and Irving will go head to head in the NBA All-Star Game.
