Luxury Catamaran Charter in Croatia: Sailing the Dalmatian Coast Aboard Cool Change
There’s something unforgettable about sailing the Dalmatian Coast with three wonderful girlfriends.
We set off from Split, Croatia, aboard Cool Change, a 56-foot Lagoon catamaran that would be our floating home for eight magical days. From the moment we stepped aboard, the rhythm of island life took over.
Our captain, Josip Krsanac, a true Croatian seafarer with deep local knowledge and an easy smile, guided us through some of the most captivating stops along the Adriatic.
Island Highlights Along the Dalmatian Coast
Each day brought a new backdrop.
Hvar – Glamorous yet historic, with Venetian architecture, stylish waterfront bars, and a harbor that hums well into the night.
Vis – Known for its unspoiled coves and crystal-clear water. Quiet anchorages felt entirely our own.
Korčula – Often called “Little Dubrovnik,” its fortified medieval streets wind through stone buildings and red-tiled roofs. It is also the alleged birthplace of Marco Polo.
We wandered hilltop villages, swam in turquoise bays, and dined at charming konobas — family-run restaurants serving traditional Dalmatian cuisine.
Yet every return to Cool Change felt like coming home.
Dining Aboard: A Culinary Highlight
Chef Larry Ambrozich transformed the experience from a sailing vacation into something extraordinary.
Each meal was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented:
Handmade pasta with wild black truffles
Grilled dorado with blitva (Swiss chard and potatoes)
Walnut-stuffed dates dipped in dark chocolate
Breakfasts were leisurely — seasonal fruits, creamy Croatian yogurt, warm pastries. Sunset dinners unfolded slowly on deck beneath a full Adriatic moon, laughter drifting across calm waters.
The Yacht: Lagoon 56 Cool Change
Cool Change accommodates up to eight guests in four staterooms, offering generous indoor and outdoor living space. The upper-deck flybridge became our favorite gathering spot — perfect for sunset toasts and panoramic views of the Croatian islands.
What we loved most? The freedom.
There were no rigid schedules. Captain Josip suggested daily routes, and “the girls” happily agreed. Each day unfolded naturally — swim stops, coastal passages, relaxed evenings under the stars.

Black Truffle Pasta
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4

3 cups (300g) dry penne pasta
4 Tbsp (50g) unsalted butter
½ cup (50g) flour
2 cups (500ml) whole milk, heated
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh grated nutmeg
2/3 cup (50g) grated Grana Padano or Parmigiano-Reggiano
1/3 cup (50g) fresh black truffle, grated
Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente (about 10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
In a sauté pan, melt butter over low heat until lightly browned.
Add flour and cook gently for 3–4 minutes.
Slowly pour in heated milk, whisking continuously. Simmer until smooth and slightly thickened (about 10 minutes).
Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Stir in grated cheese.
Grate fresh truffle into the sauce.
Toss cooked pasta with the sauce and finish with additional fresh truffle on top.
