RCYC ILCA 4 Sailors head to Greece for European Team Racing championships !
Royal Cork’s Conor Lynch and Eolann Miles are teaming up with Zita Tempany(RstGYC) and Siun Ni Choisteabha (Clogherhead) for the ILCA 4 team racing championships in Athens, Greece starting on Wednesday DEcember 3rd.

The 2025 ILCA European Team Racing Championship will bring together national teams from across Europe in one of the most tactical and exciting formats of dinghy sailing. Unlike traditional fleet racing, where every sailor competes individually, team racing is all about cooperation. Teams are made up of two boys and two girls, each sailing an ILCA 4, and they face off in thrilling 4 vs 4 battles. The winner is decided by the combined finishing positions of all team members.
The racing takes place on short, fast courses, encouraging close-quarters tactics, quick maneuvers, and bold decision-making. Sailors don’t just aim to win their own race — they work together to cover opponents, create opportunities for teammates, and control the scoreboard. The result is dynamic, high-intensity racing that highlights both individual skill and strategic teamwork, while showcasing the best young ILCA sailors in Europe.
The team practised at Crosshaven over the past weekend pulling in some of our other local ILCA sailors and were lucky enough to have nice sunny, but brisk weather for the weekend.
Eolann Miles will continue on from Greece to head to Malta for a Europa Cup event the following week to cap off a very busy season where he was crowned ILCA sailor of the year at the recent laying up supper.
Conor Lynch will head to Vilamoura just after Christmas for some training as he moves onto the ILCA 6 rig.
Congrats to Blake Vaughan also who is sailing with the ILCA 4 squad for a long winter training campaign which will also send him on his travels in new year.
