X-Yachts’ latest design, the XR 41, has been crowned Class B champion at the 2025 ORC World Championship in Tallinn, Estonia. The boat, known as Formula X and skippered by Jesper Radich, secured the title before the final race, marking a major achievement for the Danish builder.

Just 18 months ago, X-Yachts set out to design a yacht capable of winning the Worlds. That goal was realized this summer as Formula X claimed the top spot in a fleet of 22 yachts. Other XR 41s also excelled, with DIXI 5, helmed by Erik Stannow, taking second place and EXCITER, skippered by Jens Kuphal, finishing fourth.

“It was an ambitious goal – and far from everyone believed it could be done. But we believed in our mission – and we delivered,” said X-Yachts CEO Kræn B. Nielsen. “This victory is not only a tribute to the sailors on the water, but also to the tremendous effort our employees have put into the development, construction, and production of the XR 41.”

The XR 41 is more than just a race winner. Developed as a flexible platform, the design reflects X-Yachts’ blend of racing performance and cruising heritage. Owners can choose a race-optimized version, with a modular interior that can later be fitted out for family cruising, or a sport version that prioritizes comfort while retaining the ability to shed weight and adapt for competition.

“This shows that it wasn’t just about our racing team’s skill — the boat’s design and capabilities clearly hold world-class potential,” Nielsen added.

For sailors who enjoy both competition and cruising, the XR 41 offers a pathway to do both. Its modular interior system allows a transition between configurations: additional galley and cabin fittings can be installed for cruising, or removed to prioritize weight savings and sail handling for racing.

With a strong debut on the international stage and a design philosophy rooted in versatility, the XR 41 is positioned to appeal not only to racers chasing trophies but also to sailors seeking a fast, modern sport cruiser.
