Last Friday, the final race of the RCYC Friday Night Non‑Spinnaker July League wrapped up in style under absolutely ideal conditions. A gentle 10‑knot NW breeze ushered in a perfect summer evening for racing at Royal Cork Yacht Club.

Eighteen boats lined up for a fantastic course carefully set by Race Officer Sean Hanly and his capable team—designed to make the most of the conditions and provide a competitive, engaging race.

At the finish, the podium placed Conor Hanlon aboard Lapwing in an impressive third, with Pat Tanner’s Bataleur 88 in second, and Rob Foster‘s Clodagh notching the race win in top spot.

But the night belonged to the podium finishers in the overall July League standings. Magnet secured bronze, with Big Mc taking silver. Fresh from his June League victory, Sailing’s coming home as Conor Hanlon clinched gold for Lapwing, returning to winning form in style and taking home yet another piece of silverware.

Huge congratulations to all members who participated across the series. A massive thank‑you must also go to Amy and all club staff, and the dedicated army of race officials—your efforts make our weekly racing possible. Huge thanks, as always to Bob Bateman for his wonderful photos week after week!

Looking ahead: see you all this Thursday for the final race of the Thursday July League, and Friday for the first race of the August/September league.
