Henri-Lloyd Debuts Dynamic Range of Sailing Apparel
Henri-Lloyd has introduced a new line of technical sailing gear designed to improve fit, flexibility, and performance under sail. Called the Dynamic Range, the collection debuted at the 2024 METSTRADE show in Amsterdam and received a Special Mention in the DAME Design Awards, which recognize innovation in marine equipment and technology.
The Dynamic Range includes a jacket, smock, dry top, and salopette—each available in men’s and women’s cuts and intended to be mixed and matched depending on conditions. The design team drew from ergonomic concepts used in sports like running and cycling, incorporating stretch fabrics and tailored cuts to improve range of motion while maintaining the waterproofing and breathability standards required for offshore use.
One of the key design elements is a 2-way stretch fabric, rotated at the back panel during manufacturing to provide functional 4-way stretch across the upper body. Cuffs and waistbands use orthopaedic-grade elastic to enhance comfort and reduce pressure points. The salopettes include EVA-cushioned, articulated knees, reinforced with stretch Cordura for abrasion resistance without adding external padding.
According to Henri-Lloyd, the jacket weighs 650 grams and meets +20k mm waterproof and breathability ratings. Other features include a detachable, adjustable hood system, tone-on-tone reflective elements, and a ventilation system—referred to as the “Breeze Clip”—that allows the jacket to remain open without flapping in high winds.
The development of the line took more than two years and involved feedback from professional sailors competing in SailGP and TP52 programs. Their input was used to refine both fit and function through multiple prototype stages.
The garments are made from 100% recycled polyamide, and Henri-Lloyd says they are fully recyclable at the end of their lifespan. The company also offers repair and maintenance services, including reproofing and a two-year warranty.
Henri-Lloyd’s Executive Chairman, Knut Frostad, noted that the line reflects broader trends in performance apparel. “Tighter fit and stretch has been the trend in other performance sports,” he said in a press release. “Henri-Lloyd has managed to achieve this while maintaining waterproofness and breathability.”
The Dynamic Range is expected to be available worldwide starting in Spring 2025, in sizes ranging from XS to 3XL. Additional pieces—including base layers and shorts—are also included in the broader collection.
