New Line Honors Trophy Announced for Caribbean Multihull Challenge
The Caribbean Multihull Challenge (CMC) continues to innovate with the announcement of a new line honors trophy for its eighth edition, taking place January 28–February 2, 2026. In addition to the long-standing CSA handicap racing, this new category will reward boats that are first to finish in selected distance races—regardless of rating.
Petro Jonker, chair of the CMC Race and Rally Steering Committee, says the addition is in response to feedback from skippers and owners of today’s high-performance multihulls.
“Multihull design is evolving fast,” says Jonker. “Build materials, hull shapes, foils, and sails are all pushing the boundaries. Boats are capable of amazing speed, and we want to celebrate that.”
While CSA ratings allow fair competition among diverse entries, some owners prefer to race based on raw performance. For them, the new Line Honors trophy will provide a new incentive—and bragging rights.
The CMC hopes the additional recognition will attract more top-tier performance multis, including foilers and large custom builds.
“The CSA system is still essential for rewarding overall excellence,” Jonker notes, “but many of these newer boats are built for outright speed. We want the CMC to reflect that dual spirit of precision and power.”
Now in its eighth year, the CMC has grown into one of the premier multihull regattas in the Caribbean, attracting both racers and cruisers to the warm waters of Sint Maarten each winter. For more information, visit caribbeanmultihullchallenge.com or contact Stephen Burzon at StephenBurzon@gmail.com or +1 802 779 6883 (WhatsApp).
