Royal Cork Yacht Club Makes Waves at the 2025 IODAI Optimist Leinster Championships
The National Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire, played host to the 2025 IODAI Optimist Leinster Championships this weekend, and the Royal Cork Yacht Club showed up in force, with more than 30 of our talented young Optimist sailors travelling to compete.
Over the winter and spring, our club has welcomed more than a dozen new sailors, growing into one of the largest Optimist fleets in the country. This event was a milestone for many—some experiencing their first regional competition, while others reunited with friends from across Ireland, chasing titles and personal bests.
Smiles were everywhere as the RCYC team made us proud at every level, with sailors exceeding their own goals. By Sunday, trophies were plentiful, and sun-kissed, happy sailors left Dublin with unforgettable memories, growing confidence, and plenty of new buddies to Snap with on the journey home.
A huge thank you to our incredible coaching crew—Dara O’Shea, James Dwyer, and Oisín Pierse—who dedicated their weekend to guiding, supporting, and inspiring sailors across all divisions, from early mornings to late evenings.
