Following its triumphant revival last year, the George Invitational returns for its second edition, promising another thrilling celebration of team racing excellence. This iconic event, which originally flourished in Dun Laoghaire during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, continues to honour its storied legacy while carving out a new chapter of competitive excitement.

 

The Invitational, known for attracting elite team racers from Ireland, the UK, and the US, will once again showcase high calibre sailing against the stunning backdrop of Dublin Bay. The two-day event, scheduled for May 17th & 18th, will feature Swiss League team racing in Firefly dinghies, culminating in an exhilarating knockout stage to determine the champions of the George Invitational Trophy.

 

As the birthplace of Irish team racing nearly eight decades ago, the George proudly celebrates its deep-rooted heritage in the sport. The Invitational is not just a competition but a reunion of team racing enthusiasts, offering sailors—past and present—a chance to reconnect and revel in the camaraderie that defines the sport.

 

The festivities will include a Saturday night dinner in the George dining room for competitors, race officials, and volunteers, ensuring the event is as memorable off the water as it is on it.
