JOHN GREENER

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our dear friend and fellow sailor, John Greener, died peacefully on Thursday, February 13. He was at home with Karen, his beloved wife of more than 40 years. Before joining BAADS, John spent many years in Hawaii and dearly loved the water. He first joined BAADS in the early 90’s and quickly became a skipper on both Endless Time and Raven.

Although John was the sweetest man off the water, many of us experienced another side to him – as a ferocious competitor on many a race course! John was often on the podium as a Liberty racer in our Herb Meyer Regatta and was champion in 2019. He also raced a Freedom 20 in the Independence Cup in Chicago several times and competed in the North American Para Sailing Championship in San Diego. John also said though that some of his favorite sailing days were quiet ones with just Karen and their girls, Victoria and Angela out on the Bay.

A longer obituary will be posted Pirates Log as well as details of his Celebration of Life sometime this spring. If you would like to send your condolences to Karen, here’s her address: 25 Pico Court San Raphel, 94903.

John was a dear friend of BAADS and will be greatly missed.
