Boat Launches 2025: New Designs and Fresh Yachts

Solenn 27

Sam Jefferson looks at the latest designs and launches.

Hallberg Rassy 370

Swedish boatbuilder Hallberg Rassy is rapidly becoming an institution and hot on the heels of launching the giant Hallberg Rassy 69, the builder goes back to its roots with the more modest 370. In keeping with recent Hallbergs, the 370 blends cruising comfort with surprisingly sprightly performance thanks to slippery German Frers designed lines married to a generous sail plan.

The 370 does not replace any boat in the existing lineup but instead slots between the 340 and 400. As you’d expect for a Hallberg, this is a comfortable, well appointed boat that is easy to handle with a whole plethora of luxury features including bow and stern thrusters – a first for a boat of this size according to Hallberg.

Solenn 27

Ok, the Solenn isn’t a new boat given that it was designed a couple of decades ago but it’s not well known in the UK market. Designed as a modern classic by architects Alain Mortain and Yannis Mavrikios, the boat was originally built by French boatbuilder Franck Roy, then resurrected by Arcachon based boatbuilder AP Yachting. This is a light, fast and stylish dayboat or weekender that is both extremely stylish but also easy to live with.

Flow 25

The Flow 25 is a fast cruising yacht in miniature. Built out of glassfibre reinforced with carbonfibre and boasting relatively slippery lines and a decent sail area, performance doesn’t look like being an issue. Fitting in decent accommodation into such a small hull space is maybe more of a challenge but the Flow has a good sized saloon with a decently proportioned galley. The boat is also available in Cruiser version with a headroom of 1.7m as opposed to a rather modest 1.55m in standard version. This is a versatile boat available with both a fixed or swing keel and the boat is easily trailerable.

Cape Cod 767

The Cape Cod 767 is built by French manufacturer Rosewest – a name that has rather unfortunate connotations in the UK but understandably not so much in its native country. Anyway, leaving that aside and, to a lesser extent, the fact that the name Cape Cod 767 makes me think of a comfortable American motorsailer, this is in fact a very sporty and versatile little daysailer that could also be raced. The boat features a huge, sporty cockpit, offering comfortable space for crew and guests. Bench seating with folding backrests and a retractable table add a touch of versatility and practicality.

New Boat: Ventio

The ventio catamaran is built by French boatbuilder Windpearl, whose monohulls include the Ponza 35 and 60. The Ventio is a different kettle of fish and feels like the spiritual successor to the old Wharram Tiki catamarans in that it is, at heart, a fast, fun weekend cruiser that has the potential to go further in the right hands.  Designed by Nicolas Purnu, the Ventio is relatively light at 3 tons and has a generous upwind sail area of 49 to 88sq m. The boat is designed to be beached and looks ideal for weekending. Despite this, the yacht comfortably sleeps up to six guests in its four cabins which have a max headroom of  1.88 m headroom.
