Toolbox talk – Man Over Board, Recovery and Prevention

0 3

Our next toolbox talk is being led by Noel Butler which is scheduled for Wednesday 5 February at 7:30 pm in the NYC dining room.

Noel will walk us through a MOB incident on “Windjammer” which was captured on video and uploaded to Youtube focusing on the background and lessons learned from the incident.

Noel will also share his experience on equipment and methods used for POB recovery and some insight learned from preparation and practice to mitigate risk in POB situations.

As I am sure you will agree MOB and recovery methodology varies for many boats and crews so the purpose of this talk is to promote thought on how the ideas can be applied to your vessel and crew.

Noel learned to sail with the INSS at the age of 25. Since then he has been continuously sailing all sorts of dinghies and inshore and offshore yachts. His sailing CV is extensive and includes 5 Round Ireland races, 3 D2Ds, Fastnet 450, 10yrs ISORAs, Ruta de la Sal, and Middle Sea Race. His wins include Scottish Series, IRC1/overall, Cowes week IRC1, Round Ireland race IRC1, ISORA IRC2 , DBSC IRC2, Ruta de la Sal (Salinas). He has also achieved Irish Sailor of the Year, World champion, 13-time national champion, over 200 other event/series wins/podium finishes.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an interesting and informative evening.  Early bird will be available from the bar beforehand.

See you then

David
