Newcastle Hosts Eight-Race Card

0 9

Newcastle takes the spotlight today with eight exciting races. The showdown between Coqolino and Rattling Road is the highlight of the day.

1:35 PM Newcastle – Coqolino and Rattling Road Headline the Main Event

Coqolino, trained by Ben Haslam, is ready for a strong run after finishing third at Kelso in his last race. Richie McLernon will ride JP McManus’ ten-year-old in the Novices’ Handicap Chase, aiming for his first win over fences.

Lucinda Russell’s Rattling Road comes into this race with confidence after winning at Hexham last month. Carrying a 6lb penalty, he is expected to perform well again.

Keep an eye on A Moments Madness, making his handicap and chase debut today after showing promise in novice hurdles. Henry Brooke will be in the saddle.

1:00 PM Newcastle – Juventus De Brion Leads a Competitive Field

Dan and Harry Skelton’s Juventus De Brion is one to watch after a wind operation. His second-place finish at Chepstow shows he’s in good form, and another strong effort could bring a win.

Laura Morgan’s Benmore, runner-up in his last two races, will need to sharpen his jumping. However, the longer distance in this Maiden Hurdle might work in his favour.

French Emperor, who has finished third twice over jumps, is another contender who could improve over this longer trip.

11:55 AM Newcastle – Kids Say Lastgojoe Takes on Beau Quali

Kids Say Lastgojoe, trained by Micky Hammond, made a strong impression with a win at Catterick in November. Brian Hughes will ride again as he makes his hurdles debut.

From the Skelton stable, Beau Quali has finished second three times and now drops in grade. He’ll be a key player in this Maiden Hurdle.

Broderick, second at Sedgefield in December, could be a solid choice for each-way bets.ions.

Other Races to Watch

  • 12:25 PM: Queens Wish, making her debut for the Skelton team, will face Rogue Sea, a gelding by Sea The Stars, who starts his hurdles career.
  • 2:45 PM: Mister Smarty aims for a third consecutive win. Alan Doyle replaces Jamie Hamilton as trainer for Tina Jackson.
  • 3:54 PM: Blue Carpet looks strong after winning at Carlisle on his debut. Geordie Mackem might be his biggest competition, following a third-place finish at Wetherby.
