Another bluesky day for RCYC Frostbite Series

The Frostbite series at RCYC roared back on Sunday with a 12-15 kt westerly on the bank with blue skies.  In the ILCA 4 fleet, Craig O’Neill put the pedal down to get clear of brother Andrew with three wins and looks hard to beat, but he is being chased well in races by a number of newer ilca 4 sailors including Blake Vaughan and Conor Lynch. Rachel Hyde had a super Sunday after missing the first day and will climb the leaderboard fast after a second discard. Jonathan O’Shaughnessy cemented his place at the top of the ILCA 7 leaderboard with a dominant performance. Some of his competitors might rue their socialising at the N18 end of season night on Saturday eve. Emmet O’Sullivan competed well In his aero 7.

The ILCA 6 series is very competitive with a PY element with Phillip Doherty just behind Sophie Crosbie in her Aero 5. The next two weeks should keep this race close all the way to the finish.

A low tide caught the 49FX of Oisin Pierce and Fionn Daly in the last race of the day, but they are well out in front in the mixed dinghy fleet with the 420 of Isha Duggan and Tommy Hiras making a return, but needing a second discard to make this series more competitive.

Weather looks like turning more to frostbite territory this coming week and then the final day is scheduled for Saturday, November 30th with prizegiving to follow.

Race officer yesterday was Tom Crosbie with Claire Crosbie and Saidbh LeDonne.  Ronan Duggan was Safety Lead with help from Carla Miles and Tim O’Herlihy. Tim McCarthy was Race Director and Finish boat with Ed Vaughan. Yvonne Durcan had the hot chocolate and biscuits for sailors on their return from another amazing November day.  Many thanks to all others on and off the water and especially sailors from Glandore, Kinsale, Cove, Monkstown.
