Fishpond Partners with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust for Mangrove Restoration in The Bahamas

0 0

Fishpond, a leader in fly-fishing and outdoor products, partnered with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust (BTT) to launch a special co-branded line of gear. Sales from this collection will support BTT’s mangrove restoration efforts in The Bahamas, particularly in areas damaged by Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

Supporting Mangrove Conservation in The Bahamas

So far, BTT’s project has planted over 75,000 mangrove trees with help from local fishing guides, students, and volunteers. The new Fishpond X BTT collection aims to expand these efforts, helping to conserve mangroves across The Bahamas and restore critical ecosystems.

“At Fishpond, we focus on sustainability and the preservation of natural ecosystems,” said Jack Reis, Fishpond’s Director of Marketing. “By partnering with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, we can actively support vital mangrove restoration while benefiting the communities that depend on these habitats. This collaboration aligns with our mission to protect clean water and ensure a sustainable future for anglers.”

Fishpond’s Commitment to Sustainability

Founded 25 years ago in the Rocky Mountains, Fishpond is a family-owned company known for creating high-quality fly-fishing gear. The company focuses on protecting the environment, with nearly 100% of its fabrics made from recycled materials. As a certified B Corporation, Fishpond upholds strict sustainability standards, ensuring responsible practices throughout its supply chain.

Over a decade ago, Fishpond started incorporating recycled nylon fishing nets into its products. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact. Fishpond continues to support global conservation efforts, driven by its passion for safeguarding vital ecosystems.

Advancing Mangrove Conservation Efforts

“We appreciate Fishpond’s generous support,” said Jim McDuffie, BTT President and CEO. “Mangroves are critical for The Bahamas’ flats fishery and coastal communities. With Fishpond’s help, we aim to plant 1 million mangroves by 2025. This partnership will also help us develop national policies to protect mangrove habitats.”

Co-Branded Gear with a Purpose

The Fishpond X BTT collection includes products like the Dakota Carry-On Rod & Reel CaseTacky Pescador Large Fly Box, and Boulder Briefcase. Fishpond will donate $95 from each Dakota sale, $25 from each Pescador sale, and $95 from each Boulder briefcase sale to support Bahamian mangrove restoration.
