Fantastic conclusion to the Keelboat June/July Summer League!

The final races of the RCYC’s summer series, June/July league were battled for last Thursday and Friday. This was a fantastic series with seven races competed for, allowing for 2 discards so it was all to play for!  We had a superb turnout from our members with 15 boats racing on Thursdays and over 30 RCYC boats racing on Friday evenings. Thank you to the skippers and crew for supporting our leagues, Club racing is crucial to the vitality and energy of our Club.When the final hooter was sounded on Thursday night, we had our winners. In IRC SPIN Ria Lyden’s “Ellida” came 2^nd overall with Mike McCann winning on his Etchells “Don’t Dilly Dally”. Pat Vaughan came 3^rd in IRC White Sail and Paul O’Shea came 3^rd in ECHO White Sail. The McGrath’s came 2^nd in IRC and ECHO White Sail, with Ian Hickey draping the Tri-Colour over his shoulders as “Cavatina” took 1^st place overall in both IRC and ECHO White Sail! Well done both!  Mike McCann was back on the podium for taking silver in ECHO SPIN with the National Anthem being played for Sean Hanley for winning the league in his HB31 “Luas”.  It was all to play for on Friday night, however the Foster family’s Beneteau 311 “Clodagh” managed to grab the bronze medal, finishing in 3^rd place, Sean Hanley was up again for the photo having come 2^nd overall but the night belonged to Oisin McSweeney on his family’s boat “Scribbler II”.  Congratulations to all our winners and competitors, sincere thanks to our Race Officers, thanks to Mike and Sean for doing results and to Ann, Amy and all the staff for looking after us so well!  This week sees the first races of the August/September league, again a 7 race series so if you are heading west or to sunnier climes you can still compete in this league with 2 discards being applied.
