Notice to Mariners 11 of 2024 – Annual Harbour Swim

Please note the (94th) Annual Harbour swim will take place on Sunday 4th August 2024. All Harbour users are directed to keep clear of the swimmers; this includes both watercraft and shore-side rod fishermen.

Additionally – boats moored in the East Bight are not to operate their engines The Children’s’ Race is scheduled to start at approximately 11:30 hours.
The Ladies’ Race is scheduled to start at approximately 12:00 hours
The Mens’ Race is scheduled to start at approximately 13:30 hours
All adult races will have the same course, concluding at 15:00 hours

HW 12:43 hours
The course will be as follows in a clockwise direction;
START at the East Pier Slipway, beside the RNLI Lifeboat Station – swim to the first mark, at the National Yacht Club, Eastern end of the pontoon. TURN left towards the 2nd mark at the Western end of the pontoon. Then right, directly to the East Pier Lighthouse, passing Carlisle Pier. TURN right at the East Pier Lighthouse and thence parallel to the East Pier (inside the moorings) passing the Bandstand, back to the FINISH line East Pier Slipway at the RNLI Lifeboat Station.

For further safety, all other Harbour users are to comply with any instructions given by the attending Race Marshals. The Marshals will be in guard boats or canoes that accompany the swimmers and will wear High Visibility jackets.
