The Ballinacurra Cup Saturday the 22nd June.

The Cobh sailing club event was well represented by a cross section of RCYC boats and spectators, 2 trophies were on offer for the day with one trophy for overall winner and another trophy for the first National 18 home.

5 of the National 18 fleet  (Shuck’em, “The Honey Badger”, “Nacho Boat”, “The Right Job” & “No name”) competed in the event along with Sam Tanner in a Laser and a Peter O Leary & Steve O Sullivan in a Star,

First gun was scheduled for a foggy and misty start at 15:30 hrs from Mark No.13, the fleet beat up to No.16 before rounding the mark for the downwind leg of the race.

The National 18 “Shuck’em” took an early lead, with the remaining N18’s scrapping it out behind in what was a very tight race, the final leg to Ballinacurra continued in similar fashion with the shuck’em crew of Jamie Dwyer, Kieran Dwyer & Darragh O Riordan extending the lead to claim the “National 18 Master trophy”.

The final event results were:

1st Tommy Dwyer & Harry Coole – Rankin (on time difference)

2nd Jamie Dwyer, Kieran Dwyer & Darragh O Riordan-N18-“Shuck’em”

3rd Tim O Connor & Philip O Connor- Mirror

With the remaining RCYC home fleet & National 18’s finishing in the following order:

5th Adam McCarthy & Sean Lordan – N18-“The Honey Badger”

6th Charles Dwyer, Blake Walsh & John Coakley-N18-“Nacho Boat”

7th Harry Pritchard, Richard Lestor & Ant Coole-N18 “No Name”

8th Ronan Kennelly, Max O’Sullivan & Paul O’Sullivan-N18-“The Right Job”

12th Peter O leary & Steve O Sullivan-Star

15th Sam Tanner- Laser
