June Mystery Harbor: Saquatucket Harbor, Harwich Port, Mass.

The June 2024 Mystery Harbor is Saquatucket Harbor in Harwich Port, Mass. My parents were longtime summer residents of Cape Cod, and Brax Landing Restaurant was a favorite dining location for both the great food and scenic view of Saquatucket Harbor. This harbor also has a convenient public boat ramp that is the closest spot to launch for a quick trip out to Monomoy Island.

Has deep family ties to the harbor

The municipal marina at Saquatucket Harbor opened in 1970. The harbor itself is right across Route 28 from Gorham Road. My family (Gorham) has lived on the road for over 200 years. Six family members have individual homes 1,000 feet from the harbor. The Andrew’s River flows into what became Saquatucket Harbor from abandoned bogs that the Gorham family own and share with the people in the area. Two family members are fortunate to have slips in the harbor. Saquatucket Harbor Municipal is the largest town-owned marina on Cape Cod. A very special place to us.
