A busy weekend for Keelboat racing at the Royal Cork!

0 5

Last Thursday night proved to be a tricky one with mixed conditions on the water. Bruce Springsteen was thrilling his fans in Supervalu Pairc Ui Chaoimh and while our sailors may have been a little too far away to hear the concert, it certainly was “Glory Days” for John and Ronan Downing in “Miss Whiplash” and Ria Lyden’s “Ellida” who won Spin IRC and Echo respectively.
Pat Vaughan was “tougher than the rest” in White Sail on “Aramis” and came 1st in both Echo and IRC. Friday night was very light once again and Louise O’Keeffe would have been right to so say “I’m on Fire”  as “Labous Gwen” took 1st place for the 2nd week consecutive week.  On Sunday morning our 1st Sunday race of the season took place, with four boats competing in glorious sunshine and light winds.  Well done to Ronan Downing on “Miss Whiplash” who won the day, It would be fantastic if we could get more interest in Sunday sailing, let’s see what next weekend holds! Well done to all competitors and daily prize winners. As always, thanks to Anne, Amy and their teams for looking after us ashore, Sean Hanly for doing results and our Race Officers Barry Rose & Batt O’Leary for a great weekend of racing.
