RSGYC TY students help Flossie and the Beach Cleaners

Last weekend with the help of some TY sailors and one of the TY coordinators Marc Little in his rib the group removed over 80kg of plastic waste from the west end of the harbour!!

Flossie and The Beach Cleaners is a marine environmental charity that focuses on cleaning the beaches to protect the marine life, alongside this they do junior and senior school workshops on plastic pollution and climate change. The charity also connects with children on the other side of the world where plastic rivers exist and have recently purchased a boat to transport children safely across the Citarum river during flood season. This charity was formed due to the vision of Flossie Donnelly who is now 13 years old and fully involved with the charity when she is not at school!
