Weighted Swing Keel

So checked out one of the C-14's for sale on the 'net and one of them came with a completely re-worked keel. I spoke with the owner, (who was a very experianced sailor). He said that it was ground down and overlaid with some kind of carbon-fiber. He bought the boat with the conversion already done. It added about 5 pounds to the keel. The one issue he had was that there was some kind of structural failure, something pulled out of it's mountings.
