Launching from a dock with offshore breeze

I launch from a dock on Lake Waccamaw and there is typically an offshore wind. I back the boat down the ramp on the dolly. Is it best to get into the boat from the water and try to figure out how to swing it around without sailing back into the shore or drifting sideways into another dock? Or should I attach a pull-away line to the stern (the traveler line) and then walk the boat to the end of the dock and try to step on from there? The dock is about one or two feet above lake level.
