Laser Class Rules Explanation

Hey all,
I got an older laser last summer. It's in decent shape and I'm wondering what it might take to get it class compliant, so that I could race this season. I know that I will need to get an ILCA approved sail, but when I've tried to look up the rest of the class rules I just get confused. I don't want to start spending money on a sail, etc. if my boat is incapable of being class compliant for some reason that I don't yet understand.
