The 'J' buoy (deployed by the race officer as the Outer Distance Mark when a special start line is used) has been painted with an 'S' to make it more visible. It will now be called the 'S' buoy in the sailing instructions - as agreed by the Sailing Committee. No-one I spoke to knew why it was called the 'J' buoy!
