International Womens Day
Celebrating International Women’s Day at Old Wesley: Meet Cate
As part of International Women’s Day, Old Wesley RFC is proud to celebrate the incredible girls and young women who are shaping the future of our club — on and off the pitch.
In the lead‑up to International Women’s Day, we are shining a spotlight on some of the fantastic players within our girls’ section. These profiles celebrate not only their commitment to rugby, but also the confidence, friendships and life skills the sport helps to build.
Introducing Izzy, Sasha and Faith
Izzy, Sasha and Faith have come through from Wesley College and have become an ever present at training and matches since joining over the past two years. The girls have also contributed to coaching the GIAT programme. All three of the girls attended Metros recent development sessions and are looking forward to the rest of the season.
Their journey is a powerful example of what long‑term participation in sport can offer — development, resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the game.

More Than a Game
Rugby at Old Wesley is about more than competition. It’s about community, confidence, and creating an environment where girls can thrive. Cate’s story reflects the positive impact that inclusive, supportive clubs can have when young players are encouraged to start early and stay involved.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we are incredibly proud of all the girls and women who represent Old Wesley — whether as players, coaches, volunteers, or supporters.
We have some more stories to share over the coming weeks and we hope that the girls can conitnue their journey through the world of rugby…a club for life!!!
